For many of us the Christmas Miracle is immediately thought of as the birth of Christ. But I propose that the bigger miracle actually happened before Christ was born. And this miracle is so profound that I believe this Christmas it will completely transform someone’s life.

I’m writing this for everyone that woke up this Christmas morning with a burden. Sure Christmas morning for many is filled with the joy and laughter of family. But deep down inside many of us are carrying a burden. Maybe it’s a nagging health issue, your struggling financially, a relationship is weighing you down. I could go on and on with a long list of many of the burdens that so many of us are carrying this Christmas.

And I decided to write this today because I know that many are carrying a burden that you were not meant to carry alone. And my prayer is that on this Christmas morning as you read this, something will shift in your soul. A spark will ignite just like it did thousands of years ago when an angel appeared to Mary.

The story begins in Luke Chapter 1. An angel appears to Mary to announce something rather unbelievable. One of the most beautiful things about the Christmas story is that it’s all about the impossible becoming possible. What’s interesting is that before the angel makes his announcement a declaration is made. And it’s one that I pray each of you will allow to take deep root in your mind. The angel shows up and says, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

If you’re carrying a burden this Christmas there is something deeply profound that I want you to know. That declaration that the angel made to Mary is exactly the same one that God wants to make over you right now.

There are 3 things that are absolutely crucial that we begin to accept over our lives if we want to see our life began to shift and step into the incredible life that God has in store for us. It’s all about mindset. We allow circumstances in life to weigh us down and we begin to let them shape our lives rather than refusing to allow negative circumstances to control us.

Those 3 things are that: 1) God is good. 2) God is with you. 3) God is for you.

I won’t go into a long explanation here on how the subconscious mind works, but I would encourage you to write those 3 things down on your mirror and every morning when you wake up say then out loud. Because having a mindset that is deeply rooted in those 3 core beliefs is life changing.

Now before I tell you what I believe is the real Christmas Miracle in our story, let’s just get real for a minute. We all doubt. And many of us are going through something challenging in our life right now and you’re being consumed by doubt. Because let’s be honest. Life can be really, really hard sometimes.

So the angel shows up, makes a profound declaration to Mary, because before you can really believe that God is going to do something for you, it’s absolutely critical that you believe he’s for you and that you ARE highly favored as the angel declared to Mary.

So now the angel tells Mary that she’s going to have a son, his name will be Jesus and he’s the son of God.

Can you imagine what Mary must have thought? But maybe we can relate to this story more than we know. Because if you’re reading this and you’re carrying a burden, God has a promise that he wants to speak over your life that is so much more powerful than that burden you’re carrying. BUT. You have to believe. It’s the core of the Christmas story. Belief.

The angel makes his announcement and then says something that I pray pierces the depths of your soul as you read this. “For no word from God will ever fail.”

I want you to stop and say that out loud. For no word from God will ever fail. What’s interesting is that the angel made this statement to Mary after she doubted. One of the things I most love about the Bible is the humanity of it. It’s so relatable. Because let’s be honest if the angel showed up and told Mary she was going to have a baby named Jesus and he was the son of God, and Mary just immediately believed it, how could we relate to that?

But Mary did what is human. Something all of us do. She doubted. In fact her immediate response was, “How is this possible?”

How many of us are going through a difficult circumstance right now in our life, and we’ve echoed that same sentiment. God I really need you to show up, I need a miracle…..BUT ……How is this possible?

And the angels response to Mary’s doubt was, “No word from God will EVER fail.” Ever. Not one.

Now this bring us to what I believe is the real Christmas Miracle. Because if you’re carrying a burden, than all of us face a decision just like the one Mary made. We have a choice. We can believe the reality of the circumstance we are facing, or we can choose to believe what God says.

Mary doubted, but she didn’t let the doubt stop her and I pray that as you read this neither do you.

Because what Mary said next was a decision she had to make that to this day echoes in eternity. 10 words. 10 words that changed the course of history.

“May it be done to me according to your word.”

Let’s make no mistake here, Mary doubted. But like I said earlier she didn’t let the doubt stop her. She pushed through the doubt and chose to take God as his word. She was able to muster up enough faith to say, “May it be done to me according to your word.” And Mary’s faith ushered in the greatest blessing in the history of the world.

In the face of what was perhaps one of the most improbable promises in the history of the world, Mary chose to believe.

If you’re reading this, I believe it’s likely that you’re standing at a crossroads in your life. I promise you that for every single problem you may be facing there is a promise that God wants to speak over your life, that if you choose to believe like Mary did, it will completely transform your life.

So what is it for you?

The biggest miracle is the fact that against all probability, Mary chose to believe. She doubted at first like we all do, but she pushed through the doubt and spoke what I believe are 10 of the most powerful words every spoken in human history. “May it be done to me according to your word.”

So on this Christmas morning, I ask you, what burdens are you carrying that if you choose to believe your entire life will change? I pray that on this Christmas Day, just like Mary you will say, “May it be done to me according to you word.”

Push through the doubt, find a promise and choose to believe. Write down the promise and speak it out loud over your life every single day. Stand on that promise until God comes through. I promise you he will. He’s good. He’s for you. He’s with you.

Merry Christmas !
